Where to Find Real Event Jobs (And What to Avoid)
Event work is largely found through informal channels — WhatsApp groups, Instagram DMs, word of mouth. That's not inherently a problem, but it does mean the burden of vetting the opportunity falls entirely on you.
Watch for vague pay
'Good pay, will discuss' is not a rate. If an organizer won't commit to a number before you apply, that's usually a sign the number isn't decided yet — or won't be favorable to you once it is.
Ask who you'd actually be working for
A posting that doesn't name the organizer, or routes you through an unnamed 'agency' with no verifiable presence, is harder to hold accountable if something goes wrong. Knowing who's actually hiring you matters.
Check whether roles and departments are defined
A well-run event usually knows exactly what departments it needs staffed and what each role involves. A posting that just wants 'people for an event' with no further detail often reflects disorganized planning on the other end too.
Prefer platforms and postings with a real record
Where possible, work with organizers or platforms that carry some form of verification or rating history — it doesn't guarantee a good experience, but it gives you more to go on than a single message in a group chat.
